What is cooking in the KIC

In the last newsletter we looked back at the achievements of 2011. So it is now time to look forward to 2012.

First of all the business plan for 2012 will determine the scope of the activities in the coming year. However the requested funding for the business plan 2012 has been cut drastically by EIT. This means the plan has to be adapted and both the planned activities in education, business creation and the innovation projects have to be reduced accordingly. The revised plan will be submitted to EIT in January after approval of the Supervisory Board.

InnoEnergy Entrepreneur Day

On the 14th of December, EIT KIC InnoEnergy and Leuven.Inc organised an InnoEnergy Entrepreneur Day. This day was aimed at, and visited by, master students, academic professionals and InnoEnergy associate partners from industry.

Transmission Investments: Concepts for European Collaboration in Planning and Financing (Investeringen in het hoogspanningsnet: Concepten voor Europese samenwerking in planning en financiering) Read more

Smart Energy Buildings and Cities.
In February 2012 CC-Benelux will start a two years third cycle programme on Smart Energy Buildings and Cities. Read more

Learning Module ECCAIL
In December 2011 the EIT-KIC Master in Energy students of the KU Leuven visited the laboratory infrastructure of Eandis in the framework of the Learning Module ECCAIL (Educational Concepts for Cooperation on Academic and Industry Learning).

Learning Module SEEC
InnoEnergy has recently funded the development of a learning module "Sustainable Energy Entrepreneurship Certificate and Community"  - a joint effort of Eindhoven University of Technology and ESADE Business School. It's main part, Sustainable Energy Entrepreneurship Certificate (SEEC) program targets master students within the InnoEnergy community.

Presentations Technical Project Minor Entrepreneurship in Sustainable Energy
At Monday 7th of November, four groups of students, presented the outcomes of their research. Each group started at the beginning of September with a broad assignment. The Technical project focuses on the technical possibilities and limitations of an energy-related technology.

Elia is a Belgian transmission system operator responsible for the transmission of electricity.  Peter Clybouw has a seat in the Innovation & Knowledge management team. Since early 2011, Elia has been an associated partner of KIC InnoEnergy. Clybouw: "The Innovation & Knowledge team is a small team with R&D positions mostly. The team's focus is on the development and spreading of future knowledge."
